305 – Beachfront Studio with Sea-View Balcony in Simpson Bay
A beachfront studio for two, right on Simpson Bay beach
Description
Apartment 503 is really made for people who like to stay a while. You find it five floors up in Dolce Beach Residence, which occupies a beachfront plot directly on Simpson Bay’s sand, Dutch side. After a few days the lift, the lobby and the short walk to the water become your daily routine, and that is exactly the point.
A short trip can survive in a hotel room. A longer one needs a door you can close. Here a wall and a door divide the king-size bedroom from the lounge, which leaves room for one of you to read, call home or answer a few emails while the other rests. With a complete kitchen and a proper oven, weekly shopping and home-cooked dinners are part of the rhythm. One bathroom, and a guest toilet on the side.
Many long-stay guests end up working from the balcony. From the fifth level the bay stretches out in front of you, and the reliable Wi-Fi means a laptop and a cold drink are all you need for a productive late morning.
Days tend to follow a pattern: a session in the shared gym, part covered room, part breezy outdoor corner by the sea, then laps in the shared pool down on the sand. Before long the lobby staff know your name and are on hand for the small things that come up over a longer stay.
When you feel like a change, ask for a boat day or a snorkelling outing, a rental car for the week, a booked table, or simply a taxi for the airport run.
Supermarkets, marinas, bars on the beach and a long list of dinner options are all reachable without a car. Driving to the airport takes ten minutes or thereabouts, Maho Beach close at hand, Mullet Bay and Cupecoy offering calmer water when the bay gets lively, and Philipsburg and Marigot worth a day each.
Come in any time from 4 pm, and plan to hand back the keys before 11 am. Towels, sheets and Wi-Fi are covered for the whole stay.
